SOTKAnet online service
SOTKAnet Statistics and Indicator Bank is a web-based databank
maintained by National Institute for Health and Welfare - THL that
supports policy-makers and experts in the social and health sector
in planning, monitoring and decision-making. The service offers
free population data on welfare and health in Finnish
municipalities dating from 1990 onwards. The data can be broken
down by sub-region, region, province and hospital district, or
presented at the national level. They can be searched easily and
rapidly in Finnish, Swedish and English.
The search results can be examined numerically or graphically
and also pictorially as a geographical map. SOTKAnet can be found
at www.sotkanet.fi.
SOTKAnet data content's more than 2000 statistical data items.
SOTKAnet offers statistical data about a wide range of topics,
including:
- population
- municipal finances
- families
- housing
- morbidity
- medicine use
- mortality
- service use
- inpatient and outpatient health care
Besides THL, the data are derived from various other key
providers of social welfare and health data, such as Statistics
Finland, the Social Insurance Institution and the Finnish Institute
for Occupational Health. The database is generally updated annually
after the completion of the relevant registers and other
datasets.
SOTKAnet also includes data packages produced for different
target groups and uses in co-operation with other experts in social
