Health 2015 indicators

The Health 2015 public health programme provides a comprehensive framework for the development of health promotion activities in different sectors of society. The programme contains five age-specific targets and three targets that cover all ages. Commissioned by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Public Health Advisory Board, a list of indicators for monitoring the implementation of the programme was drawn up by the National Public Health Institute, STAKES and the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, in co-operation with other bodies involved in producing and making use of health data.

The SOTKAnet indicator bank includes the key indicators and complementary indicators specified by experts from STAKES, the National Public Health Institute, Statistics Finland, the Social Insurance Institution and the National Institute of Occupational Health. The data are to be provided at municipal level and date from 1990 onwards. However, many of the phenomena to be looked at occur rarely or there are only survey or interview data available on them, which limits the possibilities to examine them at different regional levels. The data were incorporated into SOTKAnet in 2005-2006.
