Trends in Health Care 2004
Trends in Health Care is a publication released by STAKES at
three-year intervals. The first publication in the series, Trends
in Health Care 2004, appeared in early 2005. The publication
describes the use of health services in Finland using time-series
statistics. It also provides information on population trends,
mortality, deliveries, induced abortions, sterilisations, IVF
treatments and congenital anomalies. In addition, the publication
contains information on health-care personnel, costs and hospital
performance.
The texts describe the current state and trends of health care,
facilitating the analysis of the statistical figures and tables.
Efforts have been made to present the statistics as clearly as
possible by extensive use of graphics. With the exception of
population and mortality data, the information for Finland is
derived from STAKES' registers and statistics. The regional
analysis of health care largely takes place by hospital district.
The publication also allows international comparisons by means of
the statistical databases of the OECD and WHO and the statistical
datasets of the EU and the Nordic countries.
