Read about the merger of STAKES and KTL The National Institute for Health and Welfare will start operations on 1 January 2009, following the merger of STAKES and the National Public Health Institute (KTL). The act and decree on the new institute were adopted at the end of October. According to Mauno Konttinen, Director General of STAKES, the organisational model for the 1300-strong institute will also be finalised well in time for the Christmas party.
