Moving around the site

The different sections of the website can be accessed through the horizontal navigation bar. Navigation within each section takes place through the menu in the left column. The contents of each page are can be viewed in the mid column while the right-hand column provides more detailed information and related links.

The grey menu bars at the top and bottom of each page contain STAKES' contact details and the Feedback link, for instance. The top menu bar also contains the Text version and Site map links, as well as links to the Finnish, Swedish and English pages.

Search functions

The quick search function for the website can be found top right on each page. The Advanced search link below the quick search field allows you to add further search criteria. The Topics section of the website allows you to search information according to topic.

Printing

The Print option at the end of the text section on each page allows you to print the contents of the mid column.

Adjusting the text size

The grey menu bar at the top of each page contains two buttons that can be used to adjust the text size. The A+ button increases and the a+ button decreases the font size.

Copyright

Unless otherwise specified, the copyright holder of the material on the website is STAKES. The text content can be freely quoted and the pages can be linked, provided that the source is acknowledged. Specific authorisation is required to use the pictures or other graphic material placed on the website.

Technical recommendations

Most attachments on the website are in pdf format. Special reading software is required to read pdf files, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, which can be freely downloaded from the Adobe website.

The service is compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 4.02 and later), Netscape Navigator (version 4.0 and later), Opera 8.0 and Mozilla Firefox (version 1.0 and later). The text version of the service is accessible by various browsers. The website has been designed with an AA-level as the minimum standard for compliance with the WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative) guidelines. The web services use the technology recommended by W3C.

The user interface of the service has been designed for a display resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and over. The text content is also readable with smaller resolutions and the service can be used without downloading images and styles (links in text form). No frames are used in the user interface.
