STAKES history
The National Research and Development Centre for Welfare and Health (STAKES) started to operate under the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health on 1 December 1992, when its predecessor body, the National Agency for Welfare and Health, established in 1991, was abolished. The National Agency for Welfare and Health was preceded by the National Board of Social Welfare and the National Board of Health.
